Perception Is (Almost) Everything

This will be a very short post.

I wanted to remind people that when it comes to something like height, even if we internally are completely comfortable and satisfied with our height, our perception may still mean little to someone else who does care about our views. Their reality and viewpoint is just as strong as yours.

It is true that the idea of perception, i.e. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” is indeed true but sometimes I feel that there are many people who take this viewpoint too far. The idea of perception can be taken to the extreme and people can develop an unrealistic view of who they are in the world.

Sometimes it doesn’t matter how much you believe in something or feel something is good. The external world comes along and proves you wrong and shows you that you can not just use subjective experience as the standard to base everything on.

There are 7 billion other people in the world, all with their own opinions, beliefs, and thoughts. It doesn’t matter whether you believe you are tall or short. When it comes to height, there is a quantified dumber, and the percentile can objectively show whether you are in the upper 50 percentile of humans in height, or the lower 50 percentile.

You can think all you want that you are average or ok in height, but if other people consistently say you are not, maybe it is time to look at yourself objectively and see reality for what it really is.

Just a thought. Bye for now.
