Height Is The Last Frontier For Personal Development

As I am sitting here today at a cafe looking out into the world at how crazy other people seem to be working, striving, and fighting to get their piece of happiness in the world, I am amazed at the dedication and tenacity which some people put into their work to make a better life for themselves and their future children. The surest way still and always will be to success and achievement is through hard work and perseverance. I of course admire all the people who work so hard to achieve so much. they have dedicated their life to give their service to the world and make it a better place. I am always amazed at how much we can change and improve if we really put all of our heart and effort into any project.

If we desired, we can gain almost everything we in terms of money, wealth , and success given enough time and learning. However, in other aras, hard work and effort is not enough to reach the goals we have set up for ourselves.

When it comes to the area of personal development and self help, so many people these days have joined in on the social phenomenon and took to learning more about psychology, anthropology, and sociology to understand better why they do what they do and how they can change their thinking and behavior so that they are more likely to reach their goals and achieve fulfillment in their lives. If we look at the list of things that people have done to completely transform their lives, we realize just how cast and deep the changes are and possible when it comes to creating or manifesting our dreams are.

If we look at everything about oursevles, we realize that we can change almost everything about who we are as a person

1. Hair – Hair dyes, Haircuts, Extensions, Wigs & Weaves, Shampoos, Conditioners

2. Skin Color – Whitening lotions, Tonors, and another hundred types of skin cream which I

3. Eyes – Laser eye surgery, Double eyelid surgery, Eye replacement implants, Contact lens, Glasses,

4. Nose – Piercings, Rhinoplasty, Fillings, Reductions

5. Face – Complete full plastic surgery – Just go to Seoul, South Korea and get your entire face redone to look like a younger completely different person for less than $30,000.

6. Weight – Over 1000 diet and exercise plans out there, all requiring one to take the initiative to exercise, diet, and stay disciplined.

7. Feet – Pedicures, massages, lotions,

8. Chest – Female breast enlargement or reduction, Pec implantations and reductions.

9. Genital, Penis – Penis Enlargement Surgery, Virginity reconstruction surgery,

10. Stomach – Tummy tucks, Suction, Butt lift

11. Teeth – Dental implants, braces, Invisible braces, dentures, Teeth whitening,

12. Aging – Anti-aging cream, plastic surgery, botox, spas, massage treatments.

Of course, as humans what we can not change easily, we can cover and hide from the side of others so that they never have to see the bad parts of us.

For the mental aspect of our lives, we seem to have a cure for everything on that nature as well

1. Depression – Prozac, Zoloft, hundred of other pills and chemical prescriptions which can change the neurotransmitter flow rate in our brain. Most types of therapy.

2. Anxiety – Prozac, Zoloft, hundred of other pills and chemical prescriptions which can change the neurotransmitter flow rate in our brain. Most types of therapy.

3. Stress – Meditation, Yoga, Most types of therapy, Tapping, Having a pet or child, etc.

10. Addictions – Support groups, psychiatrists, therapists, NLP

11. Negative Impulse tendencies – Programs, Support groups, Therapists

12. Stuttering – NLP, speech therapists.

However, of all the things that define us as who we are and makes up who we become, the only thing that we still can not change about our selves to a large degree appears to be our height. If we can truly change this about ourselves, then we would have full control over everything that happens within us in our own inner universe which our body encapsulates, barring medical conditions like cancer or genetic propensities.

Our height is still something that requires massive work and skill in changing. I personally am not sure we can change with the knowledge and technology we have today. When I look at the future of the development of the human race, height and/or changing our size will be truly the last frontier for personal development and self improvement.

Is Our Pursuit For Height Increase An Obsession or Mental Illness?

Something I learned about today from more reading was a medical term that may apply to some of us who are on this personal journey or even quest to find a way to grow taller.

While there are some of us who have a healthy interest because they want to be taller, there are some of us who have an unhealthy obsession with the topic.

The mental condition I am referring to is “Short Stature Dysphoria” where patients are deeply dissatisfied with their height. I would like to add that for most people who are deeply dissatisfied with their height, it is not from being too tall, but form being too short.

I personally don’t know if I am afflicted with this mental condition, but I do know that I have a personality that is very easy to be addicted to something once I am interested. When I was younger, I was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). I am in my mid-late 20s now and almost all of my teenage weird habits and tendencies are gone. I could claim now that my younger stranger self was just going through the typical teenage issues but know can really know.

I guess there is still a part of me that still gets obsessed over some subjects, and they may never go away but what was once a consuming thought or desire has abated into something more controllable. These days, I can be far more objective and calm about many things which I could not have been years ago. I think for this topic at my age, I have accepted my own height since it is not that bad. I can live with that and find some peace with it. I can always wear bigger shoes or put padding in my shoes to make myself feel a little better and more confident about myself.

So, please guys, just learn to keep everything into perspective. Being short does really suck and is something which we may never be able to change. However life doesn’t give us the amount of time we each need to get over our issues and heal properly. For the people who don’t understand us, who can’t understand why we are so intensely dedicated to finding a solution, they will never understand the pain and internal suffering that may go through a person who tries to change something which may not be changeable.

Should we maybe one day 10, 20 years later wake up and realize that all of that pursuing got us nowhere, and that we are left with nothing of value to show for our effort??

I don’t know but in the words of Fox Mulder from the 90’s hit, The X-Files, “I want to believe”.

Grow Taller Through Cartilage Replacement and Growth

So this will be the first method that I have personally have thought of by myself. The technique is very advanced and I don’t know if any surgeon or orthopedic medical profession would ever suggest something but I will make this proposal.

We all know that the long bones in the body stop growing after a certain age. I would assume that 95% of the people who desire to grow taller have already reached the age when the bones have already fused and the epiphyseal plates are ossified. I mean, why would we have such a deep desire and almost desperation to become taller if we were still in the process of growing? (Right?) There is a very well known saying that people don’t often appreciate what they have until they lose it.

If we study the biggest long bones in the human body like the femur, humerus, tibia, fibula, , radis, ulna, we should try to find exactly where the epiphyseal line is located which is where the growth plates actually sealed at.

I wanted to only focus on two sets of bones in this post, the femur and the humerus. The femur is the bone that forms the infrastructure of our upper leg. The humerus represents the core of our upper arms.

If we look at the diagram of the femur above, we notice that the epiphyseal plates are  not at the same distance as where the core of the bones is, which is the marrow cavity. This means that it is possible then to surgically open the long bone, cut at exactly where the fused plate is, and add a thick slab of cartilage between the surgically separated parts. As we all know, the bone can heal itself, so if we can compress the cartilage between two bones, eventually the 3 parts should fuse together. After the parts are fused and before the body begins to ossify the cartilage again , we can inject a high level of HGH into the body and give it the needed growth hormone to allow for increased bone lengthening.

Since there are a pair of femur and another pair of humerus making up 4 long bones, theoretically there could be 8 places (because there are 2 epiphyseal lines on each end of each long bone) that we can add regrown cartilage into.

Right now, this theory I proposed is probably impossible to actually test because of the amount of surgical work that must go into it. A person would have to be willing to become a quadraplegic at least temporarily just to even test this theory. Their limbs are literally removed and reattached. More than that, before the surgeon can even reach bone, they would have to somehow also cut through the muscle which is ridiculous to imagine. I have never seen amputation done and I would assume that after amputation, there may be no way to reattach or connect the cut muscle to heal/ fuse together, let alone the bone.

Another big concern is where would we even get the right type of cartilage for the patients. It is well known by medical professionals that our body will reject body parts if they don’t agree with our immune system. That is why when a person gets into an accident and are escorted to the hospital or emergency room, their blood type is immediately found so that a person with the correct blood type can give them blood. This is also true for body organs, bone marrow, and other body parts. Historical, the medical literature has shown that cartilage unlike other body parts is not able to regenerate or grow. That has only recently been proven not to be true. Any cartilage that are grown in the laboratory with the most modern technology is intended to be implanted into the knee or hip for people of old age who suffer from osteoporosis and have lost of the cartilage in their joints.

So in conclusion, this theory of mine could theoretically be a viable option, but there are some giant hurdles to get past. They are

1. Finding willing participants and patients who will go through with the experimentation.

2. Learning how to cut through the muscle and then reconnecting the muscles after

3. Figuring out how to connect the cartilage and separated bone to fuse together.

4. Regrowing enough Cartilage for Implantation

5. Having the right type of cartilage for the individual being operated on.

6. Making sure that adding HGH will be effective in getting the cartilage to work like a growth plate.

Grow Taller By Stretching The Vertebrate Column By Decreasing Spinal Curvature

From looking at the mechanics of how the human body functions and the degrees of freedom that is allowed by the bone structure and alignment, I personally believe that the easiest part of the human body to change which will allow for increased height would definitely be the vertebrate column.

In the human vertebrate column, there are 33 vertebrate parts, with 24 of them being moveable which are located in the upper and middle part of the torso which are separated by intervertebral disks. The other 9 is in the lower back area which are actually fused together with the upper 5 parts ath form the sacrum, and the bottom 4 parts that form the coccyx, better known as the tailbone.

However, when we are talking about adding height to our current selves, we are probably talking about stretching and elongating the upper 24 vertebrate, which actually have something between them that an be stretched out easily. The 24 vertebrate are classified by people in the medical community into 3 parts, the cervical ,the thoracic, and the lumbar part. Each part has its own curvature.

The cervical curvature and the lumbar region curves in the forward direction while the thoracic part curves in the dorsal region. That type of curvature could develop into stunted height by upwards of even 3 inches. While it is absolutely natural to have some curvature in our vertebrate column, we can still decrease the curvature to add some height without creating any significant medical condition which could result in great pain.

While I am uncertain right now whether the actual vertebrate bone can be changed and increased, it is clear that to create the spinal elongation and decrease the curvature, we will have to  change and flex the disks between the bone.

Since I am not a doctor or medical personnel, I will take this excerpt from Wikipedia to explain what exactly the intervertebral disk is made of and it’s functions.

This part is taken from the Wikipedia article for “Intervertebral disc” which can be found by clicking HERE.

Intervertebral disc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Intervertebral discs (or intervertebral fibrocartilage) lie between adjacent vertebrae in the spine. Each disc forms a cartilaginous joint to allow slight movement of the vertebrae, and acts as a ligamentto hold the vertebrae together.

Discs consist of an outer annulus fibrosus, which surrounds the inner nucleus pulposus. The annulus fibrosus consists of several layers of fibrocartilage. The strong annular fibers contain the nucleus pulposus and distribute pressure evenly across the disc. The nucleus pulposus contains loose fibers suspended in a mucoprotein gel with the consistency of jelly. The nucleus of the disc acts as a shock absorber, absorbing the impact of the body’s daily activities and keeping the two vertebrae separated. The disc can be likened to a jelly doughnut: whereby the annulus fibrosis is similar to the dough and the nucleus pulposis is the jelly. If one presses down on the front of the doughnut the jelly moves posteriorly or to the back. When one develops a prolapsed disc the jelly/nucleus pulposus is forced out of the doughnut/disc and may put pressure on the nerve located near the disc. This can give one the symptoms of sciatica.

There is one disc between each pair of vertebrae, except for the first cervical segment, the atlas. The atlas is a ring around the roughly cone-shaped extension of the axis (second cervical segment). The axis acts as a post around which the atlas can rotate, allowing the neck to swivel. There are 23 discs in the human spine: 6 in the neck (cervical region), 12 in the middle back (thoracic region), and 5 in the lower back (lumbar region). For example, the disc between the fifth and sixth cervical vertabrae is designated “C5-6”.

Me: While this post may not give any form of method, strategy, or technique on how to achieve achieve height increase, it does provide the medical and theoretical facts that would help explain why height increase is even possible. I would guess that 90% of the cases that have shown that the person going through a program/product has definitely increased their height was probably because their vertebrate spine was elongated from them decreasing the curvature in the spine and allowing for the decompression of the spine.
